Survival after a civil defence emergency

Conservation is an important consideration when you are in a survival situation.  When there is a limited amount of water, make sure you think about recycling it.

Drinking water is critical, and water is also necessary for rehydrating and cooking foods.

The water you use for boiling pasta, cooking vegetables and the like can be kept and drunk after it has cooled.  Canned fruit and vegetables also contain liquid that can be consumed.

Power failure will affect fridges, cold stores and processing plants.  It could be difficult to get food supplies.  The food in your fridge and freezer will go bad, making you ill if you eat it.
